All these years, I thought that race relations in the U.S. were just chuggin' right along, getting better and better. The Internet has splashed cold water in my face. We definitely need to talk about the issue if it's going to improve. Thank you for reading. I could not have said it better myself and suffice to say, you've summarized and crystallized my thoughts so very eloquently!

I think that part of the problem in our society today is that there is an unfortunate disconnect between the white American experience and the black American experience. For my part, I can go out into the world, drive my car wherever, without fear of being unfairly scrutinized, profiled, or otherwise singled out (or beaten or shot!) because of my appearance. However, I have black friends who have expressed a very real fear for the well=being and safety of their families and for themselves when interacting in society. Its difficult to understand the minority perspective when you've never been the minority. Thank you again, Andrea, for sharing your views. She was so cool under pressure.. I loved her voice. lol and the way she would curl her hair behind her ear when she wanted to kick in the "bionic hearing". :-D

I also had a thing for Yeoman (Janis) Rand from Star Trek. Oh yeah, and Barbara Eden! Whoooo wee! Hot damn! Oh yes.. I also liked Samantha from Bewitched. lol I apparently love women with "special powers", it seems.. although Yeoman Rand was just a lacky in a tight red outfit.... The fact that modern technology (i.e. picture taking cell phones) is also a double edge sword. A local weather man said last night during a broadcast something completely unrelated to the weather, "Your CPR training may be a small and insignificant responsibility to you, but it is a matter of life or death to someone else". It was spot on and brilliant. It had nothing to do with the weather. I think this applies here as well.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7725173217533756483.post-82209242959835325362015-07-25T14:43:13.599-07:002015-07-25T14:43:13.599-07:00Thank you, Beth! :) Thank you, Kim! :)Thank you, Beth! :) Thank you, Kim! :)Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02127177435320546422noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7725173217533756483.post-13389669138530405852015-07-25T14:27:06.057-07:002015-07-25T14:27:06.057-07:00You. There was no exaggeration in the telling of the result associated with the shattered car window on that cold, snowy April day. It was like a small tornado had formed in our living room in that little house in Gaston, Indiana. As you and your little brother ran in a tight circle to avoid the belt your father had twisted in his right hand, as you each ran faster and faster , the three of you became a blurr, your cries getting louder with each strike of your father's belt. I feared your dad had lost his senses. I feared for the lives of my two oldest children, although in my fDing memory, I believe Jo-el was also in that whirling circle. What I thought I was going to accomplish, I do not know, but I had to at least TRY to save you. I leaped on your father's back and hung on for dear life. I believe my weight on his back finally tired him and he gave up in exhaustion. That, my dear, is no exaggeration. That is the truth. These is my words.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7725173217533756483.post-33130701666495615822014-11-11T13:44:26.212-07:002014-11-11T13:44:26.212-07:00I love it! Keep writing.
